07. Installation: when is it “simple” and when is it “complex”?

[question]

When is installation considered easy?

[/question]

[answer]

Single-family home, one wall charger, short wiring, sufficient existing capacity: after a site survey, the contractor designs the separate circuit (cable, fuse, residual current device, grounding, surge protection) and carries out the installation. The administration is typically simple.

[question]

When is installation considered complex?

[/question]

[answer]

Apartment building, multiple chargers in one location, long route, power expansion, automatic load balancing, submeters, access management, solar integration. In such cases, an electrical designer prepares detailed technical documentation and sizing (protection-selectivity, fire protection, operation).

[question]

Is network expansion needed?

[/question]

[answer]

If you are switching to three-phase (e.g. 11 kW) or the main fuse has low amperage, it probably is. The contractor will handle the application and sizing.

[question]

How long does the installation take?

[/question]

[answer]

In a simple case, a few hours. In a more complex project (expansion/licensing) days to weeks.
